Merchandise Assistant

Central Manchester

Full-Time – Office Based

Salary £23k

Key Objectives:

The objective of this role is to work within the merchandising team to maximise commercial opportunities on your product areas on both brands websites, through the attention to detail and an understanding of the knock on effects of every task taken.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities.

Prepare weekly reports and ensure all key people have copies as a priority by Tuesday afternoon.

Ad hoc reporting and administrative jobs when required

Develop awareness of product area by reviewing the weekly sales/trade reports and keeping up to date with new activity across design and marketing.

Update systems with the current ETA / Availability from the supplier critical paths Liaise and be first point of contact with the w/house around delivery issues.

Collate, key and check price amendments.

Interact with other internal teams to improve performance and drive best practices

With the Merch check that all product landing in the warehouse has the correct Cost and Retail price and that the margin reflects correctly

Manage line cards in conjunction with the Merchandiser

Reconcile supplier order books and communicate all anomalies.

Raise and Ratio all orders onto the system.

Keep the Range Plan up to date with every order sent and ensure any amendments sent back from suppliers are updated in the range plan in a timely manner.

Run daily sales and send to merchandiser.

Run Weekly New ins and send to merchandiser.

File maintenance

Team

Ensure you understand and are focused and working towards a shared goal.

Seeking guidance on ‘Best Practice’ merchandising from the team and implement

Develop relationships as appropriate with Warehouse, Design Team, Marketing etc.

Essential Skills and Experience

Must be able to work exceptionally well on Microsoft Excel.

Numerate with analytical skills, including computer skills.

Job Overview:

Due to growth our client is seeking a talented and innovative Graphic Designer with a strong background in sports performance wear to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for activewear, understanding both the aesthetic and functional requirements of performance apparel. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers,  product developers and marketing, to design visually compelling and marketable graphics for sports performance clothing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Conceptualisation:
    • Create innovative and trend-driven graphic designs for sports performance wear.
    • Develop pattern designs, prints, and graphics for fabric that aligns with current trends in performance apparel.
    • Ensure designs enhance both functionality and aesthetics, considering the specific needs of athletes and active users.

 

  • Branding and Logo Integration:
    • Work closely with the marketing and product development teams to ensure brand guidelines are adhered to in all graphic applications.
    • Design logos, badges, and brand marks that can be applied to various types of performance wear.

 

  • Trend Analysis and Research:
    • Research and stay ahead of trends in sportswear design, materials, and functionality.
    • Analyse competitor designs and industry innovations to ensure our designs remain cutting-edge and relevant.

 

  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with product designers and other teams to ensure that designs translate well onto physical products.
    • Work with the technical team to ensure that prints and graphics can be executed at the manufacturing level without compromising the integrity of the design.

 

  • Prototyping and Feedback:
    • Create mock-ups and digital prototypes for new collections.
    • Participate in fittings and work with teams to adjust designs based on performance testing and athlete feedback.

 

  • Product Development:
    • Assist in creating tech packs that clearly communicate all necessary details for production, including graphic placement, print details, and color specifications.
    • Review pre-production samples and make recommendations for adjustments to ensure high-quality end products.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.

 

  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of professional graphic design experience, with a focus on performance wear or sports apparel.
    • Strong portfolio showcasing sportswear designs, including prints, patterns, and branding elements.
    • Familiarity with fabrics, garment construction, and performance materials is highly desirable.

 

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
    • Experience with CAD software or other 3D design programs is a plus.
    • Understanding of colour theory and print production processes.

 

  • Industry Knowledge:
    • Strong knowledge of current trends and innovations in sports performance wear.
    • Understanding of the functional demands of performance wear.

 

  • Creativity and Innovation:
    • Ability to translate performance and branding needs into visually appealing designs.
