Garment Technologist

Central Manchester

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic Garment Technologist to join their Team. This is a busy role and would suit someone looking to develop within a dynamic and growing wholesale clothing company. We are very looking for a candidate who will develop and grow within our existing experienced team.

Main duties/responsibilities:

Working on the following stock ranges:

  • Mens / Boys – Autumn / Winter and Spring / Summer – Outerwear

    Jackets

  • Mens / Boys Footwear

  • Assisting with other product categories; Denim / shorts / trousers, as well as looking after customer accounts

  • Working closely with merchandiser/ design teams, as well as our Product development manager on the menswear Department.

  • Creating development specs at the beginning of each season from original samples or CADS

  • Measuring samples at first fit / PP / production sample stages

  • Conducting, lead and own, live in house fit session

  • Sending comprehensive clear fit comments and amended specs to the

    factories, supported with clear diagrams if needed. Liaising with them on a

    daily basis.

  • Prioritise & balance workload to ensure shipment dates of product are met in

    a timely order.

  • Responsible for your own fit comments / pattern solutions and advice to

    factories to maintain a good quality/ standard.

  • Advise factory of basic test requirements per style ie Base / bulk / zip tests.

    Progression and training on chemical testing requirements

  • Checking & approving Care label layouts , reading test reports

  • Action in house wash tests if necessary

  • Assessing bulk inspection reports from our China office which come through on a weekly basis. Assisting the merch team with checking factory’s final packing lists, packaging and barcode details

  • Giving commercial decisions on bulk quality issues

  • UK warehouse checks on orders if & when needed ( Location is in East

    Manchester )

  • Work closely with product designers, marketing teams, and suppliers to ensure seamless design execution from concept to production.
  • Research emerging trends in outdoor, fitness, and performance wear to influence design decisions.
  • Prepare and present mood boards, design concepts, and technical artwork for production.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers to ensure high-quality output and accurate execution of graphics on apparel.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and competitor analysis to keep our designs fresh and relevant.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in apparel graphic design, preferably within performance sportswear or outdoor brands.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing graphic work relevant to performance and activewear.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Understanding of fabric applications, printing techniques, and garment construction.
  • Ability to translate brand identity into compelling graphic concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for outdoor sports, fitness, or adventure-driven lifestyles is a plus.

Product Designer

Job Summary

This role reports to the Head of New Product Introduction / deputy for a specific class of products. It is focused on executing and coordinating product design and development tasks as part of a wider design team. This may include developing and using specialist garment design skills.

 Duties and responsibilities

  • Analysis of customer requirements
  • Development of design concepts using CAD/ CAM (Gerber & AutoCAD preferred)
  • Create detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and photography
  • Participation in design reviews and customer meetings
  • Preparation of design documentation
  • Support manufacturing sites through New Product Introduction activities
  • Research materials, processes, or market requirements
  • Conduct new concept and prototype development with hands-on prototyping and working closely with machinists
  • Provide customer support as required throughout the development process
  • Support testing events, on-site and off-site
  • Occasional travel to support business requirements including international trips
  • Make presentations to present design ideas and concepts.

Experience and Qualification

Educated to either:

  • University degree level or equivalent in a Product Design/Clothing Design discipline 
  • High School / Further Education College with 2 A levels

 

5 – 10 years of general product design experience in a technical clothing / apparel sector that enables the role holder to deal with most situations, advise others and technically lead New Product Development projects.

Import Merchandiser – Entry Level

We are looking for a Junior Fashion Import Merchandiser to join our growing team in South Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate in Buying & Merchandising or someone with 6-12 months of experience in a similar role. You will play a key role in managing the critical path, working closely with accounts, and ensuring smooth product flow from factory to customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Critical Path Management: Track orders from development to delivery, ensuring key deadlines are met.
  • Supplier Liaison: Communicate with overseas factories daily, ensuring production stays on schedule.
  • Order Processing: Assist with raising purchase orders and managing order confirmations.
  • Sample Management: Oversee the approval process for lab dips, strike-offs, and production samples.
  • Stock Monitoring: Work with internal teams to track shipments, resolve delays, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Customer Support: Assist in managing client accounts, responding to queries, and providing updates.
  • Trend & Market Research: Keep up to date with fashion trends, pricing, and competitor activity.
  • Admin & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of order status, approvals, and shipment details.

Junior Garment Technologist

Manchester

You will play a crucial role in collaborating with the design team and factories to ensure the seamless development and production of products, while maintaining the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain product work books to communicate correct labelling, barcode, size and technical information to suppliers.
  2. To fit garment samples and update the workbooks with fit comments and make-up instructions throughout the development process.
  3. Liaise with suppliers and factories by email and video conferencing to resolve technical issues.
  4. Liaising with suppliers to ensure the certification/documentation for our products is correct and up to date.
  5. Requesting and checking barcode and Care Label submits via email from suppliers to ensure they are readable and correct.
  6. Liaising with our Licensors to ensure relevant product information is up to date.
  7. Chase samples to meet critical path and delivery deadlines.
  8. Ordering hologram stickers from our Licensors and forwarding them to suppliers for use in production.
  9. Keeping a record of the packaging weights and measures and forwarding these to customers on request.
  10. Organising/updating the Critical Path and product development files and samples.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  1. A garment technologist / QC with a technically oriented qualification.
  2. At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within a fast-paced environment.
  3. Multi-product experience with the ability to adapt across various product areas.
  4. Knowledge of grading rules, fitting and resolving fit issues.

 

Desirable Skills:

  1. Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  3. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
