Full – Time Office Based
Overview:
Our client are seeking an experienced and highly organised “Import and Logistics Manager” to manage all aspects of shipping and logistics for our expanding business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing international shipments from our global supplier base through to delivery, to UK & EU Distribution centres, you will also be responsible for the bookings and delivery of goods to our wholesale partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Shipments: Organise and monitor the shipment of goods from international suppliers to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
- Customs Documentation: Prepare, review, and submit all required documentation for customs clearance, ensuring compliance with import regulations and government policies.
- Supplier and Freight Forwarder Communication: Act as a liaison between suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to resolve any issues related to shipments.
- Inventory Management: Work with the Buying & Merchandising team to ensure accurate stock movement from third party warehousing, to ensure stock levels are maintained and accurate.
- Critical Path updates / Bookings: Ensuring the CP is maintained and updated, including liaising with retail / wholesale partners to arrange bookings and deliveries.
- Track Shipments: Monitor the status of shipments and provide updates to relevant departments, highlighting any delays or issues.
- Cost Management: Manage shipping costs, including obtaining quotes from freight carriers, negotiating rates, and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Compliance: Ensure all import activities comply with customs regulations, international trade laws, and company policies, providing HS codes for customs clearance. Ensuring all suppliers comply to our clients , purchase order terms and conditions.
- Reporting: Maintain records of all imports, including cost analysis, delivery timelines, and any delays, for reporting purposes.
- Problem-Solving: Address any issues or delays in the import process, including customs clearance delays, lost or damaged goods, and incorrect documentation.
- Communication: Provide exceptional communication to internal teams and deliver information in a timely manner.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Ideally the successful candidate would have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of international shipping, customs clearance processes, and import/export regulations.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively with external suppliers and internal teams.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in processing documentation and managing logistics.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and resolve issues efficiently and professionally.
- Organisation: Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with import management software or ERP systems.
